My Photo: Memorial Visit From October

Oh yes, in October I took a mini break to a place my Dad would talk about on our vacation to my Grandfather and Grandmother’s home in Southeast Louisiana. Each time we would pass by and on our way back home.

Well anyway, I decided to visit this beautiful place. ( The Cafe serves delicious food, my new favorite is a Muffuletta Sandwich. 🙂

I could just imagine a couple walking along these oak and having a picnic beneath those oak tree.

I can imagine a couple strolling along this oak tree .

My first attempt to capture these lovely oak trees.

My first attempt to capture these lovely oak trees.

If oak trees could talk, they would whisper how a young boy, his brother, his father and his uncles planted them in a straight line and walked from each oak trees in 1940.

Oh, the beautiful oak trees my Dad Loved to talk about. Of course, his father, his uncles and his brother and him were the one who planted these lovely trees back in the late 40’s.

I could not leave without a photo shot of this landmark sign.

How time went by fast. The whole tour takes an hour and a half. But for me with camera it would have probably took longer.

Last but not least a view of A beautiful view of Lake Peigneur(It’s French.. Google translator pronounce the name correct.)

A lovely view with a reminder of the past. Y'all see this Lake sit on top of a Salt Dome Mine.

A lovely view with a reminder of the past. Beneath Lake Peigneur is a Salt a Mine.

Now, there is a lot of information on Jefferson Island on Nov 20-21, 1980,which is on YouTube video documentary Lake Peigneur sinkhole disaster

(For anyone who wants to know more about Lake Peigneur. I won’t go into details.)

I always heard about the house that went into the Lake. Well, here's a view of the chimney

Now, I have always heard about a house going into the Lake. This could be the chimney but I am not quite sure.

I have to admit these photo shots came out very nice and my favorite ones on my mini break, which, I do not go on often. Maybe in 2017, I will go on another mini break to Rip Van Winkle Gardens. But never know with me.

Have a wonderful weekend.  🙂

My Photo: Christmas’ Eve Past

Ready or not here comes Christmas!

Ever had one of those days to just stay under the blanket with a good book and a mug of Hazelnut coffee or tea. Well, that’s how I feel right now.  I have a lot to do before tomorrow morning. I will be up for 4:00 a.m. with a mug of coffee, after I place the turkey in the over.

Anyway, here’s a visit from Christmas past 🙂

I think I did a good job with the tree this year. I did not have to redecorate it.

This year, I decorated the tree and did not have to redecorate.

My Photo: Sunset Over Water

Okay, I took these photo shots a few weeks back.  Now, this first photo shot, I had to get in an angle where I could zoom in for a closer view. Anyway, I think these two photo shots came out okay.

I had to get in the right angle and focus real well to capture this shot. Out of 6 photo shots this one and two more came out okay.

Out of 6 photo shots. This one came out Okay.

I think this photo shot came out okay.

My Photo: Mini Break Part 1

Last Wednesday, I was offline for a much needed break from writing and family members. But I did not leave empty handed on my adventure. Oh yes, my digital camera with me. 🙂

Anyway, I like to share these photo shots of this beautiful place  called, Rip Van Winkle Gardens. Jefferson Island, Louisiana.  (Two photo shots is not in order, the landmark signs.)

It's not often I will have someone take a photo shot of me.

It’s not often I will have someone take a photo shot of me.

Imagine my surprise when I walked and came across then this scene. This was not what I expected to find, never know what to expect to find in a new place.

I tried my hardest to get in the right position without going to far back.

I tried my hardest to get in the right position to  without going to far backward. This was huge.

As the title say I have no idea what type of statue this is or which culture. But that does not mean I won't go searching for my answer.

This photo makes me look determined and focus. But that's only my opinion.

Oh yes, here is a few photo shots of me. My friend was kind enough to take these photos shots, which came out perfect. But that’s only my opinion.  Not too bad for someone who does not like getting their photo taken.

The only photo shots I could not get was the delicious food and the peacocks that roam the garden ground. I had my fork in my hand ready eat when a peacock just that happen to pass by our table while we ate outdoors, viewing the beautiful lake. More photo to come on this beautiful lake with some history.

I could not leave without a photo shot of this landmark sign.

I could not leave without taking a photo shot of these landmarks, I tried to get a closer photo shot. But I was on the road with vehicles headed my way.

Okay, I think these photo shots came out good.

Have a great week.  🙂

My Writing: 14 Years Ago Today

Okay, this little essay was written a few years back, Today it’s a dedication to my Dad, who was a rice farmer for fifty something years before retiring.  14 years ago we lost my Dad (Heart attack. That’s all I will say for now. That was the first upside down and nightmare.)

Anyway, after reading this essay and editing once more, I  can say I am finish with this essay… Unless, I find something wrong. But never know with me.

Haunted Fields

From dawn to dust

He walks the lonely fields, each day,

With his shovel over his shoulder.

He checks for anything amiss in the fields.

 Those whom seen him says,

He hasn’t aged since the day

They first met him.

He, still wears his old straw cowboy hat

Blue faded long sleeves shirt and jeans.

Of course, he still wears his green hip boots.

To walk in the murky water of the rice field.

Now, a days he does not speak to many.

Maybe to those whom seen him in the per-dawn hours.

From what I have heard.

He walks in the distance rice fields.

They know it’s him by his shovel

over his shoulders.

Others seen him on John Deere tractor

plowing away in a field

and mysteriously vanish by their presence.

The only sign of him, ever being there

is the lonely distance sound

of a John Deere tractor’s whistle

fading into the sunset.

No one knows why he walks the fields.

If they did, they would have tears in

the eyes.

Maybe someday his search will be over

and he’ll finally rest.

Maybe next year, I will write about that day.

Maybe next year, I will write about that day.

Last but not least a new little Rose bush is blooming.. Roses was my Dad’s favorite flower also.  He could take a Rose branch and plant it in the ground and a few months later. The Rose bush would be growing. He had a green thumb for gardening.

My Writing: A Personal Essay Visits Again

Okay, I told myself, I would not post this essay again. But as the days got closer to the upside down day, (11 years ago.) I decided to edit and rewrote this essay once more.

Rita
Her eye was filled with coldness,

Her voice was furious as the wind.

Her movement brought destruction and fear to all in her path.

She brought sadness, left nothing untouched.

She took what she wanted from those in her way.

She took my home, my belongings, and  what I kept close.

The one thing she could not take from me, is my childhood memories.

This, I shall treasure close to my heart for all time.

Note:

Everyone had their own personal thoughts on that day. I have my own also. I have not written about it. (I won’t go there yet. ) Perhaps, in a few years, I might write more on Sept. 23, 2005 and those days, which followed.

Last but not least the only Rose bush that went through a lot.

 A White Rose

My Photo: Shining Bright In The Sky

Okay, when I took this photo shot I was to focus on the water view. I did not notice the Full Moon, until this photo was on my computer.

My Photo: A Quiet Summer Afternoon

Okay, I took this photo shot a few days ago after a little rain shower. Oh yes, it got hot again when the sun came out. But this is a typical Southwest Louisiana summer time weather.

My Photo: A Potato’s Nightmare

Okay, I took this photo shot yesterday evening. I have to admit this photo shot is not my best photo. I was not too happy with this caterpillar.

This caterpillar decided to munch on my potato's leaf.
